Peace is Every Step

Join us for a nourishing journey as we grow together through Peace Is Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh—an invitation to awaken mindfulness in everyday life. Through heartfelt reflection, spiritual discussion, and shared practice, we’ll explore how peace can be cultivated in every breath, step, and moment.

Each session includes guided meditation, discussion prompts, community sharing, and gentle integration practices.

Session 1 – March 8

Theme: Awakening to the Present Moment | Reading: Pages 1-22

We begin with the foundations of mindfulness: returning to the breath, slowing down, and discovering the peace available in the present moment.

Themes include:

  • The miracle of mindfulness

  • Awareness in everyday activities

  • Beginning a simple mindfulness practice

Session 2 – March 22

Theme: Breathing, Walking and Simple Awareness | Reading: Pages 23-44

This session explores how mindfulness can be practiced throughout the day through simple actions such as breathing, walking, and pausing.

Themes include:

  • Conscious breathing

  • Walking meditation

  • Slowing down and returning to ourselves

Session 3 – April 12

Theme: Transforming Difficult Emotions | Reading: Pages 45-66

Mindfulness allows us to meet our emotions with compassion rather than suppression or reactivity.

Themes include:

  • Working with anger and strong emotions

  • Holding feelings with awareness

  • Emotional healing through presence

Session 4 – April 26

Theme: Interbeing and Relationships | Reading: Pages 67-88

This session explores the teaching of interbeing and how mindfulness transforms the way we listen, speak, and relate to others.

Themes include:

  • Deep listening

  • Compassionate communication

  • Seeing our connection with all beings

Session 5 – May 17

Theme: Peace in the World | Reading: Pages 89-110

Mindfulness is not only personal—it is also deeply connected to how we respond to suffering in the world.

Themes include:

  • Compassion and social awareness

  • Mindfulness and peace

  • Responding to suffering with presence

Session 6 – May 31

Theme: Living the Practice | Reading: Pages 111-134

In our final session, we reflect on what we have learned and how to continue integrating mindfulness into daily life.

Themes include:

  • Bringing mindfulness into ordinary moments

  • Sustaining a personal practice

  • Living with greater peace and awareness

Preparation & Participation in Book Club:

To fully engage in our discussions, please read the assigned chapters before each meeting. This preparation will allow us to delve deeper into the material and share our insights.

Come prepared to reflect on the reading and share your thoughts. Your unique perspective enriches our collective understanding.

While sharing is encouraged, please feel free to participate at your comfort level. We strive to create a welcoming space where all voices are heard and respected and everyone feels safe and supported in their needs.
